City of Seattle Ponders: Paid Sick Leave For Seattle Workers?

Have you dragged yourself to work when you were feeling ill? Have you watched helpless as a co-worker goes Typhoid Mary on the entire staff? As a campaign for paid sick leave ramps up, relief could be on the way.

The proposal would require private businesses to allow their employees to take paid days off for illness. Businesses with under 10 employees would be entitled to one hour of sick leave for every 30 worked, capping off at forty hours per year. Larger businesses would be required to provide up to 72 hours per year.
